FAQs

The questions we get asked most.

Anything else, ask us at the stall or send a message — we’d rather answer it than have you guess.

Where does the yoghurt come from?

It starts as fresh milk from UK farms with grass-fed cows and becomes yoghurt within days, in small batches. Natural and probiotic, with three live cultures and nothing else in it — no additives, no refined sugar, no thickeners and no powders.

Is it raw milk?

No. The milk is pasteurised after it leaves the cow, and the yoghurt is cultured from there. The three live cultures are added during fermentation, so the bowls are probiotic without being raw.

Is it lactose free?

No. It is real dairy yoghurt, so it does contain lactose. The live cultures do break some of it down during fermentation, which is why some people who avoid milk find natural yoghurt easier — but we would not call it lactose free.

How much sugar is in a bowl?

None added. The yoghurt has no added sugar or sweeteners, and the only sugars are the ones in the fruit and in the granola, which is bound with maple syrup. Against a typical high-street yoghurt bowl, ours has around 12g less sugar per serving.

Is it gluten free?

No. The granola contains gluten, so the bowls are not gluten free. A gluten-free granola is something we are looking at — if that matters to you, ask us on the day and we will tell you where we have got to.

What are the allergens?

Dairy, gluten, nuts and peanuts. Every bowl is vegetarian. A full allergen table is coming to this page — in the meantime, tell us before we build your bowl and we will talk you through it.

What about nut allergies?

Nuts are on the stall — mixed nuts, pistachio, peanut butter and almond butter — so we cannot promise a nut-free bowl. Tell us before we build it and we will use clean equipment and keep it away from the nuts.

Is it vegan?

Not at the moment. Everything is built on dairy yoghurt. A non-dairy base is on the list of things to try.

Are the bowls recyclable?

Yes. The bowl and the spoon are compostable and recyclable, and the bowl is sturdy enough to take home and reuse.

What live cultures are in the yoghurt?

Three: S. thermophilus, L. bulgaricus and L. lactis. They are what makes it properly probiotic, and they are the first thing that gets processed out of most things on a supermarket shelf.

What is in the granola?

Jumbo oats, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, chia, flaxseed, ginger and cinnamon, topped with cranberries and bound with light olive oil and maple syrup. No refined sugar. We bake every batch ourselves, so we can adapt it — for the season or for a dietary need.

Do you cater for sports teams and offices?

Yes — teams, clubs, offices, co-working spaces and events. Minimum 50 covers, and we are happy to adapt the menu and the granola recipe to specific nutritional needs. Send us the date and the numbers.

Can I get Bowlo at my event?

Yes — offices, sports teams, clubs, festivals and private events. Send us the date, the location and rough numbers and we will come back with a price.
